Technology & Innovation Hub – Bengaluru
The Kmart Group is leveraging India as a source for technology services that are being delivered through Anko GCC, its captive Global Capability Centre based in Bengaluru.
The GCC operations started in 2018 with a business consulting company (ANSR) assisting in the set up. The unit was set up to support the launch of a new IT solution for Demand and Fulfilment (D&F), scaling up to support the modernisation of the Kmart merchandise systems, driving improvements in IT security as well as beginning to build capabilities in data analytics.
Since inception, the GCC has grown from strength to strength and is now an indispensable part of Kmart group. On the back of expansion in the breadth of services provided, the site has witnessed rapid growth and today the centre employs over 450 team members in Bengaluru supporting our Australia retail businesses.
The strategy from inception has been to leverage the site in Bangalore to build new technology capabilities that are critical to the group’s success. Over the past years, teams across mobile app development, sourcing and supply chain have been established in Bengaluru. Bengaluru is also a centre of excellence for Kmart’s Data and Analytics capability.
The team was established in 2019 and has been transformational in shifting Kmart group towards data driven decision making. More recently, the site is leading enhancements to the groups cyber security capability which supports IT security improvements through penetration testing and vulnerability management.
The centre had a proud moment of being awarded the “Most Impactful GCC Driven
Collaboration Award” at the NASSCOM GCC Awards in 2021 within a couple of years of operations.
